As the Fourth Street Preserve enters its restoration phase, three groups have been formed to ensure the preservation work is carried out with strong oversight, expertise, and long-term stewardship.

Fourth Street Preserve Task Force
The task force is an independent group of professionals with specialized knowledge in areas such as ecology, planning, and conservation. They will oversee the restoration of the Fourth Street Preserve and guide the implementation of the Master Plan. Its role will extend beyond the initial restoration to ensure the Preserve’s long-term care, resiliency, and maintenance.

The City of Lewes – Economic and Environmental Resiliency Commission Subcommittee
The Subcommittee, operating under the Task Force, will focus specifically on the Preserve’s restoration. This group will help guide the implementation of the Master Plan, from trails and plantings to educational features, while also supporting the city with long-term stewardship to keep the Preserve healthy and thriving.

The Friends of the Fourth Street Preserve
The Friends of the Fourth Street Preserve is a permanent organization established to support the long-term stewardship and ongoing maintenance of the Preserve following the implementation of the restoration plan.
